Your Guide To A Great Session

It’s normal to be a little nervous before a tattoo session. Getting tattooed is an uncomfortable process, no doubt, but there are definitely things you can do to ensure a more comfortable experience. With these helpful tips, you and your artist will be able to feel more prepared and more relaxed, putting you steps closer to a great tattoo session!

Before your appointment

If you need to make a change to your design, please contact the shop at least 48 hours before your appointment. Changes may take time to design and draw, so it is possible the artist may need to reschedule your appointment. A rescheduling fee may apply.

The Night Before

Do not ingest any drugs or alcohol the night before. It is important to get a good night of rest before your appointment. Drink plenty of water in preparation.

Eat & Stay Hydrated

It is not uncommon for people to lose their appetite, become nervous, feel fatigued, light headed, or pass out. All of these incidents could be avoided by eating before your appointment. Pain management is much easier if you’re not hungry. Try not to consume any caffeine.

*If you plan on having an especially long session, consider bringing snacks. If you forget, don’t hesitate to ask your artist.

Dress Accordingly

Avoid tight, restricting clothing. Be mindful of the placement, and dress so the area being tattooed is easily accessible. There is always a possibility of getting ink or blood on clothing.

Bring Entertainment

Feel free to bring headphones and any non-intrusive form of entertainment that will not disrupt your artist. Any form of entertainment that requires excessive motion is not permitted.

Don’t Rush

It is best to not schedule any commitments following your tattoo appointment. This allows for a relaxed environment between you and your artist.

Do Not Use Any Pain Management or Medications

Do not use any numbing creams or topical creams on your skin prior to the appointment. Do not use any over-the-counter pain medications either. You should never use any drugs or alcohol before your appointment. Using drugs or alcohol causes complications, including excess bleeding.

Any of these forms of pain management will compromise the quality of your tattoo and the safety of the tattooing process.

Relax And Breathe

This is the best pain management method. Feeling tense and anxious can make this process uncomfortable. Find your zen and you’ll leave with a beautiful, new tattoo and a great experience.
